2012 is the 60th anniversary of the formation of the Society in 1952. To celebrate this, the British Astronomical Association will be holding a meeting at De Montfort University on Saturday 28th April. We need your images, equipment etc for display and we need your help on the day!

March 13th - Talk on Radio Astronomy by Tony Abbey and Dr David Morgan, BAA Radio Astronomy Section
March 27th - 'The Eye. Our end of the Telescope' by John Cappin
EXTRA MEETING: Wednesday April 4th - 'Red Sprites' by Peter McLeish (Red Sprites are upper atmosphere phenomena first photographed by Shuttle astronauts)
April 10th - 'Photographing the Night Sky' Depp sky imaging using film, DSLR's and CCD's. Lots of pretty piccies and suitable for beginners. By renowned astrophotographer Nik Symanek
April 24th - 'From the naked eye to robotic observations - the two extremes of variable star observing' by David Conner. Based around a project using the cuttting edge technology of the Bradford Robotic Telescope, this talk will illustrate how scientifically useful obervations can be made by anyone with an internet connection. Even the mark 1 eyeball has its uses!
May 8th - 'Stargazing - astronomy fram manned spacecraft including the astronomer astronauts' by David Shayler - Space Consultant
May 22nd - 'Rock 'n' Roll' by Sue Baker - Geologist - Earthquakes
June 12th - Talk by Dr Samuel George of Cambridge University
